Bodum Young French Press

It's true that this is a website dedicated to espresso and espresso machines and the French Press is neither of those things, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for French Presses, and when you get right down to it, they're very espresso-esque things. So I don't feel at all conflicted about reviewing the Bodum Young Coffee Press right here today.

Anybody that reads my website consistently, knows that I overwhelmingly recommended Bodum French presses. They just produce a better quality product than everything else on the market.

Personally I like the traditional classic Bodum with the stainless steel design; but if you're looking for something with a little more style and a little more flash then the "Young" series may be exactly what you're looking for.

Bodum Young Coffee Press

You'll notice right away that this is a pretty cool looking device. It might be plastic on the outside, but it still comes with a Borosilicate glass beaker and a steel plunger that will last for years and years to come without incident.

I said plastic, but what it really is is santoprene and polycarbonate. To tell you the truth, I don't have the slightest idea what that means so I'm going to go ahead and call it plastic! But if you know what it means then more power to you!

Like a regular Bodum French press, you don't need a paper filter with this one. It has a three-part rod system with a wire mesh screen that allows you to quickly filter the coffee grounds from the coffee with one quick push on the plunger.

The "Young" is also completely dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning just about as easy as can be.

The Specs And Price

The Bodum Young has less size options than a classic Bodum press, I've only been able to find one size; which is 8-cup. It retails for $44 but we've got it on sale below while supplies last for only $29.61.

What Other People Are Saying

French presses generally aren't that popular so I didn't expect there to be very many reviews online for the Bodum Young, but I was wrong! At Amazon, there were 88 reviews. Fifty-four of them were 5-star, sixteen were 4-star, seven were 3-star, five were 2-star, and six were 1-star.

That's a very solid 4 out of 5 star average, which is what I would expect from Bodum. They do everything well!

The Bottom Line

I love french presses. They're great when I want some really strong coffee but don't want to make a whole pot of coffee or I'm not in the mood for espresso. If you're looking for a hip and stylish alternative to the classic french press design, then you can't go wrong with the Bodum Young Coffee Press. And the price just couldn't be cheaper. What are you waiting for?
