Briel ES200APG Multi-Pro Stainless Pump Espresso with Auto Espresso Flow

Briel has almost always been one of my favorite espresso makers. I use one myself every day for my morning shot of espresso (and have for over 10 years). With the Briel ES200APG Multi-Pro Stainless Pump Espresso with Auto Espresso Flow we see what this company can really do. But is this machine right for you? Let's find out...

There's a reason why Briel is Europes largest manufacturer of espresso machines (of the pump-powered variety). But this time the company may have outdone itself. This is not a machine for the beginner or someone who's just looking to make a cappuccino every now and then.

Let's Look At The Machine

Briel ES200APG Multi-Pro Stainless Pump Espresso with Auto Espresso FlowFirst of all, this is a very handsome looking machine. It has a nice blend of stainless steel and black throughout the exterior that lends an air of sophistication.

I'm not going to call this a commercial machine, because it's not. But it definitely has the feel of one. And it also has a few features that could easily be called commercial-esque.

For instance, it has something called "Auto Espresso Flow" that lets you designate between a regular or tall shot; and a self-priming pump that's fed by filtered suction tubes. It also has a nice aqua-stop feature that's supposed to cut down on dripping between shots.

It has a pretty nice turbo jet steam frother that let's you make your favorite espresso drinks such as cappuccino, latte, mocha, Americano's and more.

As you would expect, it has a removable drip tray for easy cleaning and a removable water tank for easy filling. It also comes with a cup warmer to boot!

This model also comes with a converter that allows you to use E.S.E. pods as well as coffee beans. As more and more people switch from beans to pods, this will become a lifesaving feature for many of you.

What Are Other People Saying?

At Amazon, this machine has 56 reviews; twenty-three of them are 5-star, ten are 4-star, five are 3-star, nine are 2-star, and nine are 1-star. That comes to around 3 and a half out of 5 stars on average. That's respectable, though I'd like to see it 4 out of 5.

Most of the people who like this machine seem to really love it, many using it for nearly a decade.

What's The Bottom Line?

This machine is certainly not for everyone. I'm not going to say it's complicated to use because it's not. But there are easier machines out there and if you're just getting started in the world of home espresso makers, then you might want to start out with a simpler model.

If you're and old hat at espresso, you'll have absolutely no problems in that regard.

Plus, it's a fairly expensive machine for a manual machine. For $470 you could buy a lower-end automatic espresso machine from a reputable company.

But if you're looking for a manual machine that's a little higher quality than many others out there, the Briel ES200APG Multi-Pro Stainless Pump Espresso with Auto Espresso Flow may be exactly what you're looking for. I've always loved Briel machines and I don't think that will change any time soon.
