Keurig B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System

Most of you who read my articles will know that I'm not a huge fan of all those pod or capsule powered single cup coffee and espresso machines out there. It's not that I'm an espresso machine snob, it's...well...ok I'm a snob. But one of those machines that I DO like is the Keurig single cup machines, and the Keurig B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System is the gold standard in the series. Here's why.

Let's Look At The Machine

Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing SystemLike the others in the series, the B-70 is a 1,500 watt beast that will brew a single cup of coffee, or espresso, or tea, or whatever in less than a minute. Just slap in your favorite flavored K-cup (guess what the K stands for!), press a button, and walla!.

Then just toss the K-cup into the trash for quick and easy cleanup. No messy coffee grounds to deal with, no filters to throw away, no fuss, no muss. That's why people love these machines so much (and I mean LOVE).

It has a sixty ounce water tank that you can easily remove for both easy filling and occasional cleaning. The water tank is also blue-lit which gives it a pretty cool look compared to anything else on the market.

There are five brewing options for you to choose from and you can also adjust the temperature to get your coffee just the way you like it. You don't often see that feature in other coffee center machines.

What Sets This Machine Apart From The Others?

When it comes to Keurig, you basically have a choice of three machines.

  • B-40: $90
  • B-60: $127
  • B-70: $169

So what's the difference? Well it's pretty obvious what the difference is between the first model (the B-40) and the others. The B-40 just has a couple buttons and no cool LCD display screen.

What's the difference between the B-60 and the B-70 besides about $40 bucks? Well..the tank size is a little bigger, which is nice but not a huge deal. The water tank also lights up with a subtle back-lit blue color. Again, kind of neat but not a huge deal.

The B-70 has 5 brew sizes, and the B-60 only has 3. That's sort of a big deal I guess, if the 3 that the B-60 pull don't work for you (but they probably will).

And as far as I can tell...that's it. So basically it's a little bigger, has a cool blue lit tank, and has a couple more brew size options. If that's worth another $40 bucks to you, then this is the machine for you. Otherwise, check out the B-60 instead (see the link below for my B-60 review).

What Are People Saying About it?

Here's where things get really fun. An average coffee or espresso machine might have 30 reviews. A really popular one might have 100. The B-70 has...wait for it....607 reviews at Amazon alone! 359 of them are 5-star and another 71 are 4-star. That leaves 30 3-star, 51 2-star, and 96 1-star.

That's an average of about 4 out of 5 stars. Granted the cheaper B-60 has almost 950 reviews which is considerably more, still it's an amazing number.

What's The Bottom Line?

The Keurig single cup machines are all great gadgets and if you're in the market for some sort of cup, pod, or capsule driven single cup machine then I highly recommend you focus completely on Keurig. The only question is, which Keurig machine is right for you, the B-40, B-60, or this B-70.

Price should be your decider. If you've only got a hundred bucks, go with the B-40. If money is no object, go for the B-70 (who doesn't like a blue-lit water tank!). If you're money conscious like me, go with the B-60 (it does most of what the B-70 does without the cool blue-lit tank).

Either way the Keurig B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System is a thoroughly nice little machine that I feel is the top of the line when it comes to single cup machines. If you're really going to break away from a traditional espresso machine, then this is the machine to do it with! And you can get a $60 discount at the link below.
