Nespresso C100 Espresso Machine

There's a popular tide sweeping the nation away from traditional espresso machines that use coffee beans, and towards single cup machines that use pods or capsules or discs. The Nespresso C100 Espresso Machine is clearly one of these newfangled machines, but are they worth buying? Let's find out...

Let's Look At The Guts Of This Machine

Nespresso C100 Espresso Machine
This little guy pours out 19 bars of pressure. That's amazing! A regular espresso maker might go up to 15 bars, never more than 16!

It also runs on 1,200 watts of power, which is nice (comparable to 1,050 that we see in many others). It is pump powered, so you don't worry about that! No true espresso lover would live without a pump powered machine!

The water tank holds a little over four cups of water at once and is removable so that you can clean it from time to time fairly easily.

One thing to note is that the C100 does NOT have a steam wand. That means you can't use this thing to make cappuccinos and lattes, but I assume they get around this problem by offering special cappuccino flavored capsules that do all the old steam wand work for you.

My Initial Thoughts

This is a pretty small little machine; which is a good thing. Some of these single cup coffee centers can tend to be on the large (to too large) size but the C100 is just right. It seems like you could tuck it into the corner and not even notice it when you weren't using it. For someone who doesn't have a lot of counter space like me, that's a pretty nice thing.

Also I'm still amazed at the 19 bars of pressure. Come to think of it, that's exactly why there is no steam wand. It doesn't need it! That much pressure is going to blast your coffee out in pre-fluffed form! You'll have to forgive me for going on and on about this, but it truly is an amazing feature!

What Other People Are Saying About It

This is what I would call a very well reviewed machine. There are fifty eight reviews on Amazon, and fully forty five of them are 5-star reviews with people just gushing about this gadget! Another nine people gave it a 4-star review. Only 3 people gave it a 2-star and only one lonely person gave it a 1-star review. (were they drunk?)

What's the Bottom Line

I still love my traditional espresso machines because I love to grind my own beans every morning. That smell is a great way to start the day. But, if I didn't have the time or decided not to deal with the hassle of grinding beans, then the Nespresso C100 would be at the top of my list.

If you've decided to start using capsules, then the Nespresso C100 Espresso Machine is a fine choice. At just $199 you really can't go wrong. So what are you waiting for? Buy one today using the link below!
